The IFTech International group have worked on over 500 projects worldwide. Below are some examples of recent and current projects within the UK and Europe.

Riverlight

Large scale residential development.

2.9MW Cooling & Heating ATES system

Riverlight is an exciting new residential development by St James. The project is located directly on the Thames riverfront in the heart of the new Nine Elms development area. The scheme consists of 5 blocks all served from a central plant area.

The site is currently in the construction phase with the first building populated by the end of summer 2013.

National Maritime Museum

New South West Wing for the Museum

400kW Cooling & Heating ATES system

The ATES system consists of 2 wells with a peak groundwater yield of 45m3/h. The ATES system provides all of the cooling to the new South West Wing, an exciting extension to the world heritage site.

ATES system operational since summer 2011.

There is also another well on site used for private abstraction purposes. This well supplies water to the building for grey water use. The project fully utilises the aquifer resource.

Wandsworth Riverside Quarter

New large scale residential development

2.5MW Cooling & Heating ATES system

Wandsworth Riverside is an impressive residential project in South-West London, overlooking the river Thames. ATES will be used for the cooling and heating of three mixed use buildings including 121 luxury apartments, associated affordable apartments and commercial space.

The ATES system is installed for Phase 1 which consists of 3 buildings. Operational in Feb 2013

Grosvenor Hill

New office building

400kW Cooling & Heating ATES system

This four-storey office building is a 20,000 sq ft redevelopment project located in central London within the Mayfair Conservation Area. ATES is just one in a number of environmental initiatives incorporated within the building, leading to the development being awarded a BREEAM rating of Excellent.

Trafford Town Hall

Redevelopment of Trafford's historic town hall.

600kW Cooling & Heating ATES system

Trafford Town Hall, which was built in 1931, is being redeveloped to open up the facility for increased community use and to develop a modern, efficient building.

Stonehenge Visitor Centre

New visitor centre for the Stonehenge site.

Boreholes to be used for heating & cooling system as well as potable water supply.

Borehole heating & cooling is proposed to be used in the new environmentally sensitive visitor centre 1.5miles away at Airman’s Corner.

- Drilled and tested 4 wells for heating & cooling system and potable water supply
- Peak groundwater flow rate: 60m3/hr per well

Westway Beacons (Banstead Court)

New build of five housing blocks

250kW heating and cooling ATES system

The London based project consists of five blocks of affordable housing, with an approximate total area of 8,500 square meters, designed and built for low energy consumption.

- 200 kW heating and cooling ATES system with heat pump
- 2 wells
- Operational since 2006

Library of Birmingham

Rebuild of the Library of Birmingham

Rebuild of the Library of Birmingham to deliver the world’s largest public library, with more than three million visitors expected each year.

Two wells constructed and tested for the purposes of providing cooling only to the building using natural groundwater temperature.

Metro Pacifico, Madrid (Spain)

Ground Coupled Heat Pump - ground heat exchanger

Within the Pacífico subway station, the platforms, underground offices and shops are all air-conditioned by soil coupled heat pumps

For the installation of the ground heat exchanger drilling was conducted in an underground room of the Metro station.

Data ground heat exchanger:
- Number of holes: 32
- Depth bores: 145m

For the ground heat exchanger 3 heat pumps were connected with a total cooling capacity of 120 kW.

In winter the ground heat exchanger is regenerated by removal of heat (= loading cold) through a TSA to Fancoils on the platforms (direct heating).

The system has been in operation since August 2009.

Drake Landing Solar Community, Okotoks (Canada)

Soil Heat Storage

During the winter period 52 houses are heated with solar heat stored in the ground

In the summer heat generated by solar panels for storage in the soil through a closed ground heat exchanger. The solar panels are installed on the garage roofs of the houses and through a distribution system connected to a power plant with short-term storage in buffer tanks. In summer, the hot water from the buffer tank to the bottom heat exchanger for the storage of solar heat into the surrounding soil. In the winter months, the direction of flow in the ground heat exchanger is reversed and supplies the soil, through the buffer tank and a distribution network warmth to the connected homes.

- Storage temperature: max 80 ° C.

Hospital de Mollet, Barcelona (Spain)

Soil Heat storage with heat pumps

Heating and cooling of the new hospital in Mollet del Vallès (near Barcelona) uses heat pumps and ground heat exchanger for cold / heat storage in the soil

The hospital has 160 beds and a catchment area of 150,000 inhabitants. The holes for the installation of the ground heat exchanger were performed in 2007, before the construction of the hospital and are located under the building.

For the project, two IFTech developed HPS (Heat Pump Skids) were used. The HPS is a prefabricated and standardized product for ground coupled heat pumps and underground energy storage.

Power ground heat storage with heat pumps:
- Cold power: 1,000 kW
- Heating capacity: 1,200 kW

Geothermal power plant in The Hague (Netherlands)

Deep geothermal for heating of 4,000 homes
